Wash-N-Go Gal
Hay Daizee Loves!
I am officially (like officially) a wash-n-go gal. If you read my hair routine post from October, I was essentially washing and going, only with leave-in-conditioner. No curl defining/styling products. HOWEVER, there has been a noticeable change in definition since I have fallen in love with Cantu hair products all over again. All I have ever wanted was to be able to wear my natural hair down/completely out and it look like how it looks soaking wet in the shower. FIRST OF ALL, due to shrinkage and the fact that it gets bigger as it dries… that’s not 100% possible. LOL! BUT I have pretty much got my wash-n-go routine together for when I want to feel like a curly headed goddess who has her hair under control. I’m going to have it perfected by the end of this month but I still wanted to share since my results have been so good! This Cantu Wash-N-Go has me so completely ready for warm weather! It smells so delicious and makes me feel so tropical/paradise-like. I just love it. Keep reading for my wash-n-go routine.
Washing
So just like in October, I pretty much co-wash my hair every time I shower. However, when I am trying to get rid of build-up, I throw Cantu’s Complete Conditioning Co-Wash in the mix. It’s so moisturizing and leaves my hair feeling clean. I use the Cantu co-wash whenever I know I am going to do a curly wash-n-go fro. Check out my previous hair routine blog post for further details. I will say that the order in which I use the conditioners varies. It really just depends on what my hair is doing and feeling like. If it’s dry, I typically use one of my cheaper conditioners first. Rinse. Then, the Cantu Co-Wash. Rinse. If it still feels like it needs more moisture, I’ll go in with my TRESemme Moisture Rich Conditioner. Then I rinse it all out and squeeze my hair with my hands to get the excess water out. No towel. No T-shirt. Not for this. I like to have a good amount of water in my hair when I am doing this first type of wash-n-go.
Styling
Before I start styling, I ask myself if I am styling just for the day and for moisture purposes OR for a few days. Why? Because I can get a cute wash-n-go with lighter products and it will lose definition while I am sleep and I will have to do something to it again the next day. Or I can get a super defined wash-n-go that I can wear for the next 3-4 days. Now, what I consider lighter/heavier and more defining is based off of the products in MY hair. It may be completely different for you. I consider most of their products HEAVY moisturizers but LIGHT in terms of definition. The biggest difference between my 2 wash-n-go techniques is the DEFINE AND SHINE CUSTARD. Errmahgahhh… I love that stuff! I’m going to walk you through both and my quick little puff below.
Just For the Day Wash-N-GO
I usually do these on Saturday and they actually help me to prepare for a more defined wash-n-go the next day or for puffs or something if I go out that night. When I get out of the shower, I spray the Hydrating Leave-In Conditioning Mist all over my head. Then, I bust my hair into 2 sections. Left side. Right Side. One side at a time. Remember, this wash-n-go is for moisture purposes.
· Spray Coil Calm Detangler throughout section (detangling helps so much with definition)
· Apply Argan Oil Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream Throughout
· Gently brush through section with detangling brush
*** My hair has to be dripping wet for this one. So after brushing if it’s not soaking wet, I spray it with water. Yesss… after brushing. I do not like adding the next product if my hair is not drenched. Not for this style***
· GENEROUSLY apply Coconut Curling Cream. GENEROUSLY
So the key here is the generous amount of coconut curling cream and making sure it is distributed evenly throughout. I do not pick my brush back up after this. I use my fingers to rake the product in and clump the curls and all that jazz. Because at this point, brushing my hair will mess it up. It may be different for you though. And if your hair is way thicker or you want to ensure the product is everywhere, bust the 2 sections into smaller sections.
Longer Lasting Wash-N-Go
*** If I am starting on a moisturizing wash-n-go from the previous day, my hair is not soaking wet when I do this. It just got steamed while I was in the shower. That is really important to note. Because the custard is BOMB on soaking wet or slightly damp hair***
The Define and Shine Custard has changed the game, you guys. CHANGED THE GAME! Lol this is what I did on my snapchat the other day. Again, when I get out of the shower, I spray the Hydrating Leave-In Conditioning Mist all over my head. Then, I bust my hair into about 5-6 sections. 2 in the back (left & right), 2 on the sides (left & right), and my “bang” and crown areas… lol because they need A LOT of attention.
· Spray Coil Calm Detangler (if I just co-washed) or Comeback Curl Next Day Hair Curl Revitalizer (If I am starting with the previous day’s wash-n-go) throughout section
· Apply Argan Oil Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream or Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream or Coconut Curling Cream Throughout.
***LOL Megan which one? IDK… I really be doing whatever I feel like that day, which depends on what I started with. I usually go with the repair cream though… especially if I did the moisturizing wash-n-go the day before. The purpose of this step is to get a lot of moisture into the section BEFORE adding the styling product… because remember we want this one to last a few days. I have used all 3 of these separately and even 2 together and the results did not vary so, do what you feel is best.***
· Gently brush through section with detangling brush
· Apply as much Define and Shine Custard as your little heart desires!
· Brush through the section and watch your curls form and CLUMP (major key)
***I most definitely use my brush during this ENTIRE process. The Define and Shine Custard changes everything. The detangling brush WITH this custard is like MAGIC. Like the definition is UNREAL for me. ***
TIP: Take your time with this. I have to in the front and crown area especially. You have to make sure everything is nice and moisturized, evenly distributed, and defined if you want it to last a while.
Go-To Wash-N-Go Puff
This is my go-to work hairstyle. LOL Especially if I wake up late. When I get out of the shower, I spray the Hydrating Leave-In Conditioning Mist all over my head. Then, I apply the Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream to my entire head. Ain’t got time for sections. Then, I grab the DEFINE AND SHINE CUSTARD (game changer… incredible) and apply that to my entire head. Again, ain’t got time for sections. I QUICKLY make sure it is distributed evenly throughout my hair with my fingers. No brush. Then I pull it up! BAM!
Drying and Final Touches
For a full blown wash-n-go… I only air dry these days. The diffuser messes with the curls too much. However, with the puff, I blow dry my entire head real quick before I pull it up. Then I dry it a little more once it is in the puff. Cantu products are creamy and white so you better believe my hair is white until it starts drying. It’s called a product cast. I apply any oil I have at the time to my hair (gently… do not mess up the curls) after I am done to help ensure that the white cast breaks while it is drying. And it helps with the “crunch”. I have also been “shaking” my head to ensure that my hair is clumped nicely before it starts drying.
ECO STYLER for the edges and baby hairs OF COURSE… no matter what the style is.
Refreshing
THE DEFINE AND SHINE CUSTARD IS A GAME CHANGER. I honestly can’t say it enough. It’s great for touch-ups! I refreshed my puff this morning simply by allowing the shower steam to moisturize my hair while I showered and then QUICKLY dipping my head under the shower! I did not want my roots to get wet… just the part in the puff. I applied the custard and pulled it back up and BAM. Looks brand new. So defined. So many cute, and bouncy ringlets at! If I am refreshing the wash-n-go (in sections), I use the Comeback Curl Next Day Hair Curl Revitalizer and re-apply the custard and BAM AGAIN! Looks BRAND NEW. Redo those edges and baby hairs!
I love my hair. And I love Cantu. Follow me on snapchat and you may catch me in action one day styling my hair!
More to come Daizee Loves! I am just getting started.
Love ALWAYS,
Megan
